JAMMU, Nov 17: Minister for Revenue, Javaid Mustafa Mir today visited the site of Banquet/Multi-functional hall at Udheywala and took stock of the ongoing works of the project .
The Custodian General Mohammad Javed Khan appraised the Minister that Banquet/Multi-functional hall at Udheywala is being constructed over 20 kanals of land at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.50 crore.
While taking a comprehensive review of the under construction banquet hall, the Minister directed the officers of the Custodian Department to complete the physical work by December 31, 2015. He further gave on spot directions to provide all the modern facilities required for a banquet hall. He also stressed on developing landscape in front of the hall for its beautification.
Stressing upon the need for paradigm shift from mere custodian of land to development of assets which will fetch revenue to the department, Javaid directed the Custodian Department to explore the possibility of creating state of art public utilities on custodian land in the State. He also stressed on envisaging projects to promote eco tourism.
Mir said that there is need for judicious use of the space and funds to complete the project in time so that they can generate income and employment opportunities.
Later, the Minister paid surprise visits to various Revenue Offices at Jammu. He visited SDM and Tehsil Office at Marh and Naibat Mishriwala and interacted with public and officials.
