JAMMU, Nov 17: The casual labours, Anganwadi workers and helpers of SWD besides temporary workers engaged in different departments today held strong protest demonstration followed by dharna outside the office of Divisional Commissioner at Rail Head complex here today.
The workers and casual labours under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front, under the leadership of Gafoor Dar and Molvi Nazir Ahmed, State general secretary, assembled near Panama Chowk and then moved towards the Rail Head Complex in the shape of a protest rally. They were carrying banners and placards depicting their issues and shouting slogans in support of their demands.
They demanded that Government should frame policy for the regularization of over 61,000 casual labours and temporary workers besides Anganwadi workers and helpers. They also demanded removal of pay anomalies of the supervisors of ICDS and clerical cadre of all the departments, withdrawal of termination order of the Anganwadi workers and helpers, merger of 50% DA in the basic pay of State Govt employees on the pattern of Central Govt employees, enhancement of honorarium of Anganwadi workers on the pattern of Haryana State and holding of DPC of various cadre in various departments.
The Trade Union leaders Molvi Nazir and Mr Dar also addressed the gathering and criticized the Government for ignoring the basic issues of the workers. They alleged that PDP-BJP Government was pursuing anti-worker policies.
They said that Front has already given enough time to the Government for resolving these issues and now they are being forced to intensify the struggle.
Trade unionists Rajinder Kumar, V J Singh, Mushtaq Lone, Yahs Paul, Rattna Devi, Molvi Muneer Ahmed, Peeran Ditta, Swarna, Irshad Begum, Aruna, Jognider Pal and others also spoke on the occasion.
