JAMMU, Nov 17: Lambasting the Jammu based ministers for their failure to ensure incorporation of pressing Jammu based issues in the financial package unfolded by the PM at Srinagar, NPP chairman Harshdev Singh sought the review of the said package so as to ensure the inclusion of construction of much needed flyovers in Jammu and beautification of the city of temples.
Addressing NPP activists during protest demonstration here today, Harshdev regretted that repeated announcements and tall slogans given by the Government to decongest the city by provision of flyovers have fallen flat with no action having been initiated by the Government to tackle the ever growing menace and no demand was projected by the leaders of Jammu for funding of the same under PM’s special package. He said that increased traffic on city roads and additional load that hits the Jammu roads due to Darbar move has intensified the traffic problems in the city of temples thereby aggravating the woes of common man.
The NPP leader called upon the Jammu based ministers to wake from their slumber and to assert in the face of growing public concern and resentment and ensure inclusion of fly over projects in the much hyped PM’s package. He called for flyovers from Amphalla to Janipur, Jewal Chowk to Canal Road, Balwinder Chowk to Rehari, Panama Chowk to Narwal, Vikram Chowk to Satwari besides others in view of pressing public demands.
Mr Singh further called for adequate allocation under the said package for vigorous beautification measures for the city of temples so as to attract the tourists and Mata Vaishnodevi pilgrims and to ensure their prolonged stay with a view to give a fillip to Jammu’s economy. He regretted that no mention was made of development of Mubarak Mandi cable car project, Heritage sites of Jammu including Mubarak Mandi, Bagh-e-Bahu, beautification of Raghunath Bazar and the historical temples of Jammu, beautification of embankments of river Tawi on the pattern of Jehlum besides development of Patnitop, Surinsar, Mansar, Sanasar as tourist resorts in the said package.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Manju Singh, Naresh Chib, Shankar Singh Chib, Gagan Pratap Singh, Sham Ghorka, Kesar Parveen, Renu Singh, Chetan Sharma, Sanjeev Verma, and Kajhoor Singh.
