JAMMU, Nov 18: A deputation of J&K Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) led by its president Krishan Singh, today met SK Mishra, DGP Prison Department, in his office chamber and presented a memorandum of demands.
The demands highlighted in the memorandum include updating welfare fund rules for retired prison personnel (both gazetted and non-gazetted), constitution of welfare board for them as envisaged in the Jail manual, removal of anomalies in combatization/conversion of ministerial and other cadres with executive cadre on police pattern, medical facilities for retired prison personnel and their dependents and holding of 3rd annual Prison meet for retired prison personnel without any delay.
The deputation also sought finalization of the process for departmental recruitment, which was taken in hand some years back to fill the existing vacancies but was slowed down for the reasons best known to the authorities.
