CHANDIGARH, Nov 20: During the current Kharif season, more than 54.03 lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far as against about 41.48 lakh MT during the corresponding period last year.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that out of the total arrival, government procurement agencies have purchased more than 42.31 lakh MT paddy while millers and dealers have purchased over 11.71 lakh MT paddy.
The Food and Supplies Department has purchased more than 19.32 lakh MT of paddy, more than 14.93 lakh MT has been purchased by Hafed, over 4.34 lakh MT has been procured by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation and more than 3.71 lakh MT has been purchased by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation.
The spokesman said that farmers have been advised to clean and dry their harvest properly before bringing it to the market so that they do not have to face any problems in storage due to high moisture content. (PTI)
