JAMMU, Nov 20: The inaugural function of the two-day international conference on “Research and Innovations in Science, Engineering and Technology (RISET) 2015”, the first of its kind in J&K, was organized today at Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology (YCET).
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof RD Sharma was the chief guest and Prof Rajib Kr Bhattacharya, Department of Civil Engineering, IIIT Guwahati, was the guest of honour of the function.
The programme started with the lighting of the traditional lamp. The mega event witnessed a huge gathering of participants from a number of educational institutions from within J&K and outside the State.
Prof RD Sharma lauded the efforts of YCET for organizing the first ever international conference in Jammu and stressed on the need of promoting research in emerging technologies. He exhorted upon the young researchers and budding technocrats to hone their skills and competencies in research through experiential learning and problem based learning.
Prof Rajib Kr in his speech highlighted the role of innovations, its management and imperative need for cutting edge technologies in water management and energy production to save the beautiful planet. He spoke eloquently on water energy nexus and explained how tremendous progress can be made in the developing countries in the field.
On this occasion, the proceedings of the RISET 2015 were released by the chief guest and other dignitaries.
The advisory committee of the conference involved academia and the industries and comprised of eminent scientists, researchers from India and abroad.
Keynote speakers and resource persons were Prof AK Koul, Dean Academics, DGBSU, Rajouri, Dr Venu Chandra, IIT, Chennai, Sanjeev Anand, Director, School of Energy Management, SMVDU, Katra, Dr Murari Gupta, Director, Research KL University Rajasthan, Prof Dev Anand, Head, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Central University, Jammu.
