JAMMU, Nov 21: Under ‘Operation Sadbhavna’, Army’s 425 Field Hospital organised an eye camp for the people of villages close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector.
The people from this remote and backward area travelled long distance to avail facilities of eye surgery. The army has always been forthcoming to help these villages by improving their living standards and offering Medical facilities. Eye check up camp was organized on Oct 15, 2015 at 425 Field Hospital in collaboration with Pritam Spiritual Foundation, Poonch. Maj Shailesh Mogra, Eye Specialist from 150 GH examined 55 eye patients in the camp out of which 31 were recommended for cataract surgery with intraocular lens.
Pre anaesthetic check up and investigations were done at 425 Field Hospital and 20 patients were finally selected for surgery. Cataract surgery with intraocular lens was performed free of cost under Operation Sadbhavana by 150 GH at Rajouri on Nov 17 and 18.
After successful completion of cataract surgery, patients arrived at Poonch on Nov 19, where Col AK Singh, Commanding Officer 425 Field Hospital, Maj HC Pandey, Surgeon 425 Field Hospital, Maj Chandrashekarah N, QM 425 Field Hospital, Prof Jagbir Singh of Pritam Spiritual Foundation welcomed them. The camp received an overwhelming response from the locals and they requested that such camps should be held at least twice in a year.
