MAINPURI (UP), Nov 22: Uttar Pradesh Minister Azam Khan today likened his bete noire Amar Singh to “garbage” after the expelled Samajwadi Party leader attended the birthday bash of Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying when there is storm a lot of trash comes along.
“A lot of (kuda-karkat) garbage comes along when there is storm,” Khan said in a fresh barb at Singh.
Asked to elaborate, Khan, who had maintained a low profile at the event last night, said, “I have nothing more to say.”
Khan and Singh are at loggerheads and reports that the former MP might be reinducted in the party fold has not gone down well with the UP minister.
At the birthday party, Mulayam and Singh offered cake to each other at the main event, snaps of which went viral on the electronic media.
During the event, when Singh was asked about absence of Khan, he said, “Who is saying he was not here? I have myself seen him and he has just left with the Chief Minister.”
Singh said, “Even if I am not in the party (SP), I am in his (Mulayam’s) heart. I will not make any more comments.”
To a question, Singh said, “Azam is my friend and I will not say anything against him.”
Even Mulayam clarified that Khan was very much present at the event. “How can he give my birthday party a miss?” he posed.
Asked as to how the cake cutting ceremony was held before time when it was expected to be done at midnight, Azam Khan said, “It is a conspiracy against me. I celebrated Netaji’s (Mulayam’s) birthday by cutting cake at the right time at midnight last night.”
Mulayam cut the cake around 8 PM and shared it with Singh on the dais, where family members of the ‘birthday boy’ was present.
Singh was perhaps the only person from outside Mulayam’s family to be present on the dais and hogged the media limelight amid talks that he was likely to rejoin the party.
Recently Singh had met Akhilesh and Mualaym separately at their residences triggering speculation in the ruling party circles. (PTI)
