Dachhan lacks communication and road connectivity

Dachhan, a remote place in Kishtwar having a population of about twenty thousand souls is lacking both road and communication connectivity in this digital era of the world. Tall caims are being made by the successive Central and State Governments for long for upliftment of the far flung, backward and hilly areas of the country/State. There are various Centrally Sponsored Schemes for the development of these areas but on ground there is no development in the areas for which they are meant. The hapless, poor and backward people of Dachhan also meet the same fate in the developmental activities. Considering the population area and backwardness of the area Dachhan has been given the Status of Tehsil recently while creating new Administrative units in the State. Perhaps, this is the only administrative unit where authorities themselves feel handicapped in performing their duties forwant of these two important connectivies. What to talk of general public.
For want of mobile/internet facility student community does not get the benefit of internet, Google and other information sources in pursuing their studies, preparing themselves for exams, entrance tests or interviews and undergoing higher studies when they have to compete with the aspirants of cities where all such facilities are available. They are thus discriminated and deprived of these basic amenities of life. They despite being residents of most far flung, hilly and backward areas of the State, have got no benefit of the R.B.A. category since more than half of the State has been declared as backward by the State Government where all the modern facilities including road/communication connectivity are available. Moreover, the general public is also suffering for want of this facility. They feel handicapped in contacting their family members living outside for earning their livelihood or vice versa.
The persons are the helm of affairs are least worried about the misery the people are facing. The District administration and the BSNL authorities are requested to take steps to redress their grievances of the people of Dachhan as the BSNL towers sanctioned ¾ years back have not been erected so far despite the fact that some components were airlifted to Dachhan and the work abandoned thereafter. The construction of road from Dangdhoru to Dachhan be also started immediately as the Central Government has already sanctioned some amount under CDF for the construction of this road. Forest/environmental clearance has also been given by the concerned authorities.

Bad condition of roads in Mendhar
It is a matter of great concern that the condition of many roads in Mendhar is very bad. These roads are quite difficult to travel on.
In this connection, local people held many demonstrations before the administration. Despite these protests no change is there on the grounds. Many developmental works have been executed in the area, but roads have been left untouched.
It is once again urged upon the authorities to look into the matter as the earliest.

Beautify Ambedkar Chowk
Dr Baba Sahib B R Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu (near Jammu University Jammu) needs immediate proper beautification. Its condition is poor. There is no arrangement of cemented or metallic fixed chairs. There is no attractive flowers beds. Elderly persons who are unable to sit on ground need above said chairs at the time of functions there.
It may not be out of place to mention here that many functions are held in this chowk every year.
It is, therefore requested to the State Government to pass on orders to the concerned department at the earliest to develop this chowk on pattern of Dogra Chowk, Jammu.

Blacktop Harni Nar road
Harni Nar road turned into death trap I draw the kind attention of Public Work Department towards the fact that around 7 kilometers road from Harni to Nar is in a pathetic condition, creating problems for locals. Due to rains, the road becomes slippery, making it hard for vehicles to ply over it. If anybody falls ill, it takes many hours to shift him to hospital. Besides, the school going children also face hardships. Locals have demanded early black-topping of road to avoid any untoward incident.

Basohli PDS consumers face problems
Defective and irregular supply of ration has become the fate of the consumers of Basohli because the only PDS shop at Basohli which has to cater to the needs of the fifteen thousands of consumers spread over a radius of five kilometers. There has always been scarcity of ration commodities since the opening of the PDS shop at Basohli.
The consumers have never received all items of ration rice, flour and sugar in one go. They have to waste at least five days a month to collect all the three items of ration with the result the poor daily wagers and the labourers are looted of their hard earned wages every month.
The ration items are distributed when huge crowd is gathered around the table of the sales man whereby taking the advantage of the crowd they charge exorbitant rates for the ration commodities and give short measure. Many times the matter was brought in the notice of the authorities who turned deaf ear to the complaints for the reasons well known to them.
PDS shop collapsed 8 months ago, neither the wall has been reconstructed nor any permanent arrangement for the sale of ration items been made The ration items are now being supplied to the consumers on four different stations not known to the consumers in advance.
The ration from the PDS shop is their right and not the charity by the department. Therefore, the collapsed wall of the PDS shop be repaired immediately, the number of PDS shops increased so that the supply of the ration can be made to the consumers respectfully in one go.
