BHADERWAH, Nov 24: Youth Action Committee (YAC) Bhaderwah staged a protest here near historical Seri Bazaar against the erratic power supply in the locality.
The protesters, numbered in hundreds, took to streets and organized a protest demonstration shouting slogans against the Power Development Department (PDD) and the State Government.
The protest was led by YAC president, Naseer Mehboob Padder. While speaking on the occasion, Naseer said that the people of the area have been facing unscheduled power cuts, besides the scheduled curtailment since long time.
“We are forced to protest because no one seems bothered about the power supply situation in our area”, Naseer alleged and lamented that despite regularly paying bills and e-metering of the area, the PDD authorities were enforcing frequent power cuts.
“The power outages have become a major concern here and despite the matter being brought to notice of Authorities many a time, the situation has not improved”, he alleged and added that in complete violation of the already announced load-shedding program, the PDD has resorted to extended unscheduled power cuts without informing the consumers.
He said that they were expecting that the power curtailments would be reduced before winter, but they have only been increased which are affecting the studies of our wards, as they are not able to prepare for the exams.
The YAC president appealed the concerned authorities to look into the matter on priority so that the local populace may take a sigh of relief.
