JAMMU, Nov 24: Displaced families observed 68th Shaheedi Diwas of their relatives by organizing a rally here today.
Large number of displaced families from Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Bhimber, Kotli, Sunauti, Poonch, Bagh Haveli, Uri, Deva, Watala, Manawar, Nah, Chhamb assembled at Maheshpura Chowk under the leadership of Rachhpal Singh Chib, President, PoJK DPs Front 1947, 1965 and 1971.
They paid tributes to their relatives, who laid down their lives while fighting the invading Qabalies supported by Pak Army. They also raised slogans in favour of their pending demands.
While speaking, Rachhpal Singh Chib said that the Rs 2000 crore package announced by the Prime Minister for displaced persons will mitigate their sufferings.
He demanded reservation of 8 Assembly seats in the Legislate Assembly, 2 Seats in the Legislative Council, 10 per cent reservation in the State Professional Institutions and 10 per cent reservation in Employment in the State.
He also demanded constitution of 2 Development Boards of PoK 1947, PoK 1965 and 1971 (Chhamb), appointment of separate Commissioner for disbursement of funds, Department of PRO, Jammu be detached from the Custodian Department.
He appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide political and social packages too as the DPs are lagging behind in education and employment and their present share in the State employment is just 0.5 per cent.
