JAMMU, Aug 30: There has been no end to Jammu College of Engineering and Technology (JCET) teaching faculty’s wait for All India Council of Technical Education Revised Pay Scales and Career Advancement Rules as the State Cabinet today deferred the proposal of the Finance Department in this regard for want of more information and clarifications on certain issues.
Sources said that when the proposal of the Finance Department was placed before the Cabinet, some Ministers pointed out that while adopting AICTE Revised Pay Scales and Career Advancement Rules for the JCET, it must be ensured that AICTE Rules vis-à-vis qualification of faculty were also applicable to the College.
Keeping in view observations of some Ministers, the Cabinet deferred the proposal of the Finance Department for want of more information and clarifications particularly with regard to qualification of faculty.
“Since more exercise is required to be carried out on the issue, the long wait of faculty of JCET gets stretched for several more months”, sources said.
Meanwhile, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla raised the issue of regularization of unauthorized colonies in the Cabinet meeting.
“Mr Bhalla told the Cabinet that the colonies were last regularized in 2005 and thereafter no attention was paid towards this issue”, sources said, adding “the Minister even named several such colonies like Balmiki Colony, Ashok Nagar, some areas of Sanjay Nagar, Preet Nagar and Basant Bihar, whose residents have been craving for regularization of their respective colonies”.
Keeping in view the concern expressed by Mr Bhalla, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah asked the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand to carry out a detailed exercise in this regard by ensuring proper coordination between Revenue and Housing and Urban Development Department and then place a formal proposal before the Cabinet for final decision.
