Safai Karamcharis, others warn agitation

JAMMU, Dec 1:  Civil Safai Karamcharis, drivers, cleaners, clerical staff and sanitary supervisors of JMC today warned that in case the authorities failed to settle their genuine demands, the Association will be left with no alternative but to launch agitation followed by strike on December 10.
This warning was given by the representatives of Civic Safai Karamcharis Union and the representatives of drivers & cleaners, clerical staff and sanitary supervisors.
They said that at numerous times they had given representation and submitted charter of demands to the authorities but no positive action has been taken by the Municipal administration.
The employees are demanding re-organization of JMC, scrapping of NGO system in JMC, establishment of separate hospital for Safai Karamcharis, sanction of new municipal colony and allotment of five marlas plot for Safai Karamcharis, promotion to Safai Karamcharis working in JMC, regularization of contractual drivers of JMC who have completed eight years service, holding of DPC for all cadres and promotion to all LSGD trainees junior assistants and senior assistants, release of two and half days salary in favour of drivers and cleaners and sanitary supervisors, promotion of senior drivers as yard master/ transport inspectors.
The meeting warned that if these demands were not solved within days the authorities will be responsible for the agitation which will be launched by the employees.
