Landmark initiatives taken by Govt to ameliorate condition of women: Mir

SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Rafiabad, Yawar Dilawar Mir said that Cabinet decision of approving State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS) for poor girls will go a long way in providing relief to the populace living under Below Poverty Line (BPL).
He added that approval to the SMAS for poor girls to provide Rs 25,000 cash and cost of 5 grams gold to each girl across the State falling in the BPL category is a land mark decision.
Mir further stated that the present coalition Government since its inception has taken several landmark initiatives including “Aasra” and “Ladli Beti” schemes to ameliorate the condition of woman folk.
He said that the approval of “Hunnar” scheme across the State for skill development and providing guaranteed self employment avenues to poor girls in BPL category will enable them to earn a dignified livelihood.
He also added that Cabinet decision to implement the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State from February, 2016 to provide ration at highly subsidized rate to around 74.13 lakh persons from poor and marginalized sections of the society is also a landmark decision and will go a long way in cementing the ties with the people and the coalition Government.
