Three-days Ayush Mela concludes

JAMMU, Dec 2: Three days AYUSH Mela organized by Directorate General of Indian Systems of Medicine, J&K in collaboration with Shahidi Chowk and Rajinder Bazaar Traders Association concluded today at Rajinder Bazar.
The valedictory function was attended by Director General of Indian Systems of Medicine J&K, Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, Sheikh Khasif Masood, General Secretary, Banarsi Das Angral, Chairman and Harbans Singh President of Shahidi Chowk Rajinder Bazar GM Chowk Traders Welfare Association Jammu.
While speaking, Dr Dar urged public to avail the benefits of AYUSH services available at different ISM institutions across the State.
DG ISM also highlighted the strengths of AYUSH systems of health care and made public aware about various new initiatives of the Directorate General of Indian Systems of Medicine like Medicinal Plant sector, Yoga and Wellness centres and Public health outreach activities under National AYUSH Mission.
Directorate General of Indian Systems of Medicine provided free clinical consultations and free AYUSH medicines for the public by a team of AYUSH doctors and paramedics.
Around 8000 patients were examined during the three day mela. People from all walks of life and every section of society visited the camp enthusiastically and availed AYUSH services.
Patients requiring advanced treatment modalities like Panchkarma, Ksharsutra and Yogic consultations were referred to Government Ayurvedic Hospital.
Earlier, the mela was inaugurated by Minister of Health and Medical Education Choudhary Lal Singh and Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi.
While addressing the gathering, Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh emphasized the use of Indian Systems of Medicine like Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy and Yoga and urged the public to avail the benefits of this traditional wisdom of healthcare which has been in use from the times immemorial as the burden of hazardous and chronic diseases is increasing day-by-day due to faulty life styles and environmental pollution.
He added that new kinds of diseases are emerging and it is the need of hour to switch to these traditional systems of medicine for the prevention of such diseases and promotion of holistic health.
