Traders protest denial of flood relief

SRINAGAR, Dec 4: More than a year has passed since floods ravaged Kashmir valley but the traders in Ratnipora area of Pulwama district today protested against Government, saying they have not been provided any kind of relief so far.
The traders under the banner of Traders Federation Ratnipora assembled in the area and staged anti-Government protest. Holding banners, the traders raised slogans in favour of their demand and accused Government of ignoring them.
“We are 230 shopkeepers here and our demand is that relief be paid to us. More than a year has passed but we have not been provided anything. We approached every concerned official but no one paid heed to our plea,” said local Traders Federation president Shakeel Ahmad.
Threatening stir, the president of Traders Federation said that if their demand is not met within 10 days they will hit the streets and block the highway.
