Capt killed, 3 jawans injured

KATHUA, Dec 4:  An Army Captain was killed and three other Army personnel injured today when two military vehicles coming from opposite directions collided with each other on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Kathua district late last night.
The Army has ordered a Court of Inquiry into the incident, a Defence spokesman said.
The Army Captain identified as Sumit died on the spot while three Army personnel sustained injuries when their vehicles collided with another Army vehicle on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Chhan Rorian area in the district, a police officer said.
He said that the injured were rushed to the District Hospital in Kathua from where they were shifted to Army hospital in Pathankot.
A case has been registered in this regard, police added. The Army personnel were from 47 Armed Regiment Ratno Chak, Samba and were the part of Army convoy which was on its way to Pathankot.
Police said the Gypsy in which the Captain was traveling along with the three Army personnel was first hit by a tralla and later it collided with an Army vehicle head on resulting into the instant death of the Captain and injuries to three Army personnel.
The injured Army personnel were identified as Sipahi Suresh Kumar, Lance Naik, Pawan Kumar and Sipahi Ratish.
The body of the Captain was shifted to District Hospital Kathua where from it was handed over to Ratno Chak Brigade officers after postmortem in the morning. The body of Captain was flown to Delhi his native place for cremation later by the Army.
