Wani inaugurates NHRM ‘Sammelan’

DODA, Sept 3: Former minister and MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani inaugurated  National Health Mission ‘Sammelan’ at  Town Hall here today.
The purpose of organizing this programme was to create awareness among the people of the area about various components of NRHM. Mr Wani was the chief guest of the function while Deputy Commissioner, Doda, Farooq Ahmed Khan was guest of honour. Chief  Medical Officer, Doda Dr M I Zargar, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Doda  Dr M F Bhat, District Social Welfare Officer Rakesh Kumar, Sarpanchs, Panchs and many prominent persons of the area were present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering MLA Doda said that providing better healthcare facilities at the doorsteps of the people in rural area is the main objective of this mission.  He impressed upon the health fraternity to work with a missionary zeal and underlined the importance of strengthening institution of ASHA workers. Mr Wani said Doda is remote and hilly district and many people live in far flung hilly areas. They are needed to be educated about the mission.
CMO Doda gave detailed presentation about the Mission and its various schemes. He educated people about ‘Janani Suraksha Yojna’ maternal health, child health, family planning, pre-natal determination tests, school health programme, immunization etc.  He disclosed that there are many schemes including ‘Maa Tujhe Salam’ under which there are various incentives for pregnant women in Government health institutions like free and cashless delivery/ free cesarian section, free drugs and consumables, free diagnostics, free provision of blood transfusion, free transport from home to health institution and back home and free treatment of sick newborn till 30 days after birth. A cultural programme was also performed by students of AMT school Doda on the occasion.
