332nd edition of Vijeshwar Panchang released

JAMMU, Dec 5: The 332nd edition of Vijeshwar Panchag for year 2016-17 was today released at a simple but impressive function at Vijeshwar Panchang Kariyalya Ajit Colony, Gole Gujral near here today by Pt. Omkar Nath Shastri Sampadhak of the Panchang and chairman Pt. Prem Nath Shastri Sanskrit Shodh Sansthan.
Besides the members of the Sansthan and Shastris associated with the Panchag the function was also attended by scholars, academicians and social activists.
Speaking on the occasion, Pt O N Shastri highlighted the significance and role of the Vijeshwar Panchang. He said this is a religious granth for Kashmiri  Pandits and a link to their roots, culture and traditions. Settled in any part of world this granth reminds him his origin that he belongs to land of Kashyap Rishi where Vedas were composed and Rishis and Munis mediated for years together to attain heights in spirituality.
He said a Kashmiri Pandit should feel proud of that he belongs to land which gave birth to world’s renowned scholar Acharya Abhinav Gupt and this granth links Kashmiri Pandits settled in any corner of the globe to their origin.
He also recalled the role of Jyotshi Karyalya of Bijbehara which is publishing the Panchang for over last 300 years now.
Jyotshi Bushan Lal Shastri, Jyothsi Vimarsh, Raj Kilm, Com. Mohan Lal, Kuldeep Pandita and Inder Koul were among others who attended the function.
