Teacher held for student’s murder

SRINAGAR, Sept 3: Police today arrested a teacher who had allegedly beat a student to death more than a week back in Baramulla district.
A police spokesman said that police after taking cognizance of the matter lodged a FIR against the teacher. The spokesman said that on August 25, Kulbir Singh son of Nirmal Singh resident of Sangri Colony, Baramulla reported that his son Panveer Singh, who was reading in class 10th in a school was beaten by a teacher Altaf Ahmad son of Ali Muhammad resident of Khanpora.
“The boy was injured and was shifted to Baramulla Hospital where from he was referred to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar and later to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar. The boy breathed his last on Sunday. Police registered FIR No. 177/12 and arrested the accused teacher. The body of the boy was handed over to his relatives and has been cremated. Further investigations are on,” said the police spokesman.
