JAMMU, Dec 11: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today underscored the need for greater synergy among the security agencies to maintain peace and order in the State. He said that peace is imperative for over all development of the State and all agencies involved in maintaining rule of law have a major role in ensuring peace.
Mr. Rajendra was chairing a meeting of senior police officers of Jammu Zone through video conference to review the police functioning in the province, from Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today.
Mr. Rajendra stressed for adoption of best practices to enhance capabilities of professional policing. He sought firsthand reports from Range DIGs, District Superintendents of Police about the measures put in place to strengthen investigation mechanism and law and order situation in the districts of Jammu Province.
While seeking reports from the officers, Mr. Rajendra stressed on finalizing criminal cases on merit to bring criminals to justice. He directed time bound investigation of all cases with regular supervision to get better results. The officers put forth reports about the present status of work and achievements registered during 2015 in their subordinate units. Detailed deliberations were held with regard to strengthening the professional policing through use of modern techniques. The officers put forth various suggestions and requirements for basic amenities for the police personnel and strengthening of infrastructure in their jurisdictions.
Detailed discussion was held with regard to the status of crime detection cases, law and order, security, traffic in cities, towns and on national highway, training, community policing, civic action programme, infrastructure, inspections, community policing and other administrative matters in the Province. DGP said better deliverance should be the priority of the organization and gaps observed during the current year should be addressed.
DGP stressed upon the officers to strengthen the relations with the public and the people visiting Thanas. He asked police officers to listen to the public complaints patiently and redress their grievances on priority. He also called for cooperating with civil society and educational institutions in eradicating crimes especially involving youth. He said that community policing has been paying good dividends in crime detection.
The meeting was attended by ADGPs, SP Vaid, Navin Agarwal and SM Sahai, IGPs, HK Lohia and SL Sharma, AIGPs, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Tahir Sajjad, Kulbir Singh and Sheikh Zullfikar Azad, X-En PCD, Rashid Mustafa and other police officers.
