JKAACL’s Drama Festival: YCS stages ‘Kala Suraj’

JAMMU, Dec 12: On the fifth consecutive day of Annual Drama festival, organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Yamni Culture Society (YCS) staged a Hindi translation by Padma Sachdev of Mohan Singh’s Dogri play “Kala Suraj”here at Abhinav Theatre.
Directed by Mushtaq Kak, the play “Kala Suraj” revolves around very sensitive socio-political issues. The contents of the play were knitted in the form of collage where in the characters that portrayed different roles raised various questions pertaining to terrible condition of their surroundings.
The play also raises many questions on the oppression of common man, their exploitation, nepotism, wickedness and selfishness, besides degradation of moral and social values.
The artists who performed in the play were Aparna as Istri, Azam Wani as Purash, Mohit Mehra as Meeri, Vivek Sangotra as Dholi, Rohit Sangotra as Trali, Amit Sharma as Fadi, Gaurav Taroch and Pushpinder Bharti as Parhaunpida, Mohit Singh Chib as Bandhu, Torin Kumar as Kamrade, Shilakha Sharma as Ladki and Azam Wani as Shonku.
The set of the play was designed by Sandeep Verma while Lights were designed by Ifra Mushtaq Kak, costumes by Azam Wani, music by Sourav Verma, property by Aparna Kapoor. Mohit Chib was the assistant director.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sanjeev Gupta, SOCA and Incharge Manager, Abhinav Theatre.
