JAMMU, Dec 13: 72 BPM Healthcare–Multi Specialty Hospital at Channi Himmat gave new lease of life to a patient suffering from acute appendicitis pains by performing the surgery at mid-night.
The surgery was performed by Dr HS Bali, General Surgeon, Dr YP Gupta, Medicine and a team from 72 BPM Healthcare.
Addressing a press conference, Dr HS Bali, General Surgeon said that a patient suffering from acute appendicitis pains was admitted in 72 BPM Healthcare at Channi Himmat at around 11 pm and without any delay the surgery was performed at mid-night, which gave a new lease of life to the patient.
He informed that the appendix is a small, finger-shaped pouch of intestinal tissue extending from the cecum, which is the first part of the large intestine. Blockage of the opening of the appendix into the bowel by a hard small stool fragment (fecalith) is believed to be a frequent cause of appendicitis. The infected appendix must be surgically removed (emergency appendectomy), because if it becomes perforated (leaks), this can lead to infection of the entire abdominal space (peritonitis), which can be fatal. The surgery is done while the patient is unconscious and pain-free (using general anesthesia), he added.
In view of overburdened Government Hospital services, particularly at GMC Jammu, our hospital has tried to create a state of the art facility to cater to all surgical emergencies round the clock.
With recent shifting of “Jammu Brain and Spine Center”, Senior Neurosurgery Consultant Dr JP Singh to the hospital, all head and spinal injury treatments will be available 24X7 as of now, he stated.
“72 BPM Healthcare has already established a state of the art joint replacement center. Total hip replacement by minimal invasive technique was performed 2 weeks ago in a patient with severely damaged hip joint due to secondary osteoarthritis. Surgery was a success and the patient is now happily recovering to his normal routine life activities”, Dr Bali added.
On behalf of Hospital Management, he assured every possible effort to bring world class healthcare services on affordable rates with all amenities in Jammu to share the work load from Government hospitals.
Among others present were Sunil Sareen, Chairman, Dr JP Singh, Medical Director/Nuerosurgeon, Dr Deepinder Chaudhary, Joint Replacement Surgeon and Dr Y P Gupta, Medicine.
