RAJOURI, Dec 15: A young woman hailing from Mendhar area died under mysterious circumstances in the district hospital here today.
The deceased has been identified as Tasleem Akhtar (22), wife of Naseer Ahmed, resident of Banola village in Mendhar. The woman had married hardly 8 months back. After being allegedly beaten up by the husband over some domestic issue, the woman consumed some poisonous substance and became serious last evening. Her uncle (Mama) who resides in the same area, came to know about the matter. He and his wife rushed Taslima to SDH Mendhar where she was referred to Rajouri hospital. She died at District hospital Rajouri today.
Mendhar police registered a case in this connection and started investigation. After conducting postmortem on the body of the victim, they handed it over to the parents. Victim’s parents alleged that husband and other members of in-laws’ family tortured the girl and forced her to take this extreme step. They demanded arrest of husband, mother-in-law and other members of the family.
