JAMMU, Dec 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has reiterated its demand that the compensation for the left out properties of the displaced persons (DPs) of PoK be fixed prior to disbursement of Rs 2000 crore taking into account the recommendations made by Joint Parliamentary Committee.
In a statement Gurdev Singh, president JKSAC asserted that the legitimate one time settlement issue of DPs is not being taken up seriously as both State and Central Government have yet to clarify the details of the package. He added that rather giving solace to the DPs it has created confusion among them.
Mr Singh said the Government must spell out the details of the package and honour its commitment made in the CMP to settle the issue honourably and more than their expectations and added that it is an appropriate time for the coalition partners particularly BJP to take up the issue seriously and should evolve a comprehensive strategy to resolve the issue taking into consideration their physical and material losses.
He revealed that a delegation of SAC met the Chief Minister on December 11 and expressed gratitude to the CM and PM Narendra Modi for the package which may form a base for the final compensation to the left out properties. The SAC delegation strongly pleaded for early disbursement of the amount as `on- account payment’ till the final package is redesigned as per the recommendations of the JPC.
