Dr Jitendra announces Rs 5 lakh for Kishtwar victims        

JAMMU: An immediate assistance of Rs 5 lakh was announced today for the victims of the fire incident at Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district by Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh.

Soon after receiving the news about the incident, Dr Singh got in touch with the Kishtwar MLA and MoS Sunil Sharma, who gave him details about the incident as well as the follow-up relief work. Sharma also paid an immediate visit to the affected town of Kishtwar, an official release said.

An ancient temple and two houses were gutted in suspicious fire triggering tension in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, where a shut-down was observed following a call given by the Sanatum Dharam Sabha (SDS) yesterday.

Sharma also informed that he had offered Rs 1 lakh for reconstructing the damaged structures.

Meanwhile, Dr Singh expressed satisfaction that both the administration as well as the civil society leaders had immediately moved in to ensure that there was no untoward sequel to the incident or any communal strife. (AGENCIES)
