Trucker held with poppy straw

RAMBAN, Dec 17: Police arrested a truck driver along with poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, police party from Ramban police station laid a special naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and signaled a Jammu bound truck bearing registration number JK01S-8437 to stop for checking.
The driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot, but the police chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 1.400 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The accused has been identified as Chamail Singh, son of Gian Singh, a resident of Camp Gole Gujral, Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 138/15 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the trucker at police station Ramban and investigation started.
The arrest was made by SHO Ramban police station Inspector Vinod Kundal under the supervision of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
