JAMMU, Dec 17: A delegation of Sanskrit scholars headed by Rohit Shastri, president of Shri Kailakh Jyotish Avem Vedic Sansthan Trust, met Minister for PHE, I&FC Sukhnandan Choudhary and put forward various issues and problems associated with Sanskrit language in the State.

Pleading for due share to Sanskrit scholars in employment, the delegation urged the Minister to take up the matter with the Union Ministry for Human Resource Development of Sanskrit language and to open 16th Sanskrit University in Kashmir. It also called for a separate ministry for Sanskrit language and to make the language compulsory from 6th stand to JKBOSE level.
The delegation told the Minister further that large number of scholars did not get employment in the State and somuchso they are even not invited for interviews to the posts of teachers. It also demanded separate scholarship and reservation quota in university lecturership and teaching assistant.
