JAMMU, Dec 17: Army today organized a seminar on ‘Communal Harmony’ at Ramban and another seminar on ‘Women and their Role in the Society’ at Government Middle School, Saryah in Reasi district.
The seminar at Ramban was organized under the aegis of Delta Force in collaboration with Social Welfare Department of Ramban district. The theme of the seminar was “Mazhab nahi sikhata aapas mein bair rakhna”. A huge gathering of almost 1000 people attended the seminar including the Sarpanches of almost all villages of the district.
The seminar was attended by many prominent personalities of district and senior army officials including Commander of 11 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Brigadier KP Sing, Civil dignitaries including Dr Bashir Ahmed Dar, DC Ramban and Randeep Singh, SSP Ramban. The seminar also witnessed cultural program by various school students of Ramban.
In his presidential address, Commander of Rashtriya Rifles emphasized the importance of harmony in the process of development. He invited all cross-section of the society towards the positive contribution in direction to strengthen the bond of harmony.
The seminar at Reasi was organized by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Jhangar under the aegis of Rashtriya Rifles Counter Insurgency Uniform Force Headquarters, Reasi. It was attended by officials from the Army, civil administration, Sarpanches and women from various cross sections of the society.
Speakers emphasized that women, as an integral part of the society have made immense contribution to the overall growth and development of the nation.
Purshottam Lal, the local Sarpanch said that the Government schemes like Sukanya Samridhhi Account, Mother and Child Tracking System, Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls and Priyadarshini Scheme among others have benefited a large number of women.
“However, knowledge and importance of such schemes need to be proliferated to the remote corners of the country so that women and girls from villages also can benefit from the same”, he added.
