JAMMU, Dec 19: In order to finalize the optimum implications of Central assistance for implementation of high end security, law and order system in the State, a high level meeting of police officers was held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today.
The assistance to the tune of Rs. 500 crore is to be received under the Prime Minister’s Developmental Programme of Jammu and Kashmir State, recently announced by Prime Minister.
Under the chairmanship of Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, the meeting discussed various proposals and suggestions. It was decided that JKP would engage the services of best consultants, who would advise the department for proper implementation of these projects.
Mr. Rajendra stressed for proper utilizing of equipments and said that during the recent years infrastructural changes have been brought to increase the capabilities of JKP under modernization programme.
During the meeting, different committees were constituted to supervise the projects, under the chairmanship of ADGP Trainings, Navin Agarwal, ADGP Security, V K. Singh, ADGP Armed, S. M. Sahai and IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani.
Mr. Rajendra disclosed that under the special assistance programme all components of JKP would be strengthened to make it a modern police force to tackle the situations in a befitting way. He said that innovative changes would be brought to improve professional policing in different areas including security, training to deal with law and order situations, traffic management, mobility, communication network and coordination among various agencies.
Mr. Rajendra asked the officers, heading different wings in the Organization to come up with the comprehensive proposals in order to implement the planed assistance and achieve desired results for strengthening various components of the organization.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGP (Headquarters), SP Vaid, IGPs HK Lohia, AG Mir, MS Salaria, Rajesh Kumar, Danish Rana, SL Sharma and Viplav Kumar, AIGPs, Dr. Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Tahir Sajad, Kulbir Singh and Sheikh Zulfikar Azad and other police officers.
