SRINAGAR, Dec 19: Dr Kaisar Ahmad, senior pediatrician, was today appointed as the Principal of the Government Medical College Srinagar on temporary basis.
Dr Kaisar was given charge of GMC Principal after his predecessor Dr Rafeeq Pampori sought voluntary retirement.
A Government order (No. 814 HME dated 2015 dated 19-12-2015) issued reads: “In the interest of the Administration and patient care, it is here by ordered that Dr Kaisar Ahmad, Professor and HOD Pediatrics Govt Medical College Srinagar, shall temporarily look after the work of the post of Principal GMC Srinagar in addition to this own duties till further orders.”
Dr Kaisar is at No 2 in the seniority list of the professors with Dr Javed Chowdhry at No 1. Dr Javed is presently Nodal Officer GMC Baramulla and Kaisar as Nodal Officer GMC Anantnag and they have other responsibilities as well.
The Government in another order (no. 813 HME of 2015 dated 19-12-2015) reads: “Sanction is hereby accorded to the grant of 45 days earned leave in favour of Professor (Dr) Rafiq Pampori, Principal/Dean, GMC Srinagar w.e.f 18-12-2015 to 31-01-2016 for performing Umrah with the permission to leave the station.”
