JAMMU, Dec 19: Security forces have busted a militant hideout and recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition from Kumet forests of Ramban district.
Official sources said the troops of Delta Force based at Banihal along with police busted a militant hideout in the dense forests of Kumet area of Ramban district and recovered large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives from there.
They said that based on specific information, the security forces launched a search operation in the forests yesterday that continued till late afternoon today.
The arms and ammunition recovered from the hideout included one AK 47 rifle with three magazines, two Chinese made pistols with four magazines, 169 rounds of AK 47 rifle, 53 rounds of 7.62 sniper ammunition, one IED, 50 grams plastic explosive, wire fuse, one hand held radio set, one sickle, two blankets, one civil dress and cooking utensil.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delta Force has complimented the troops who took part in the operation and commented that the recovery of this cache is in continuation of the sustained efforts of Delta Force towards dismantling the remnant terrorist infrastructure and support base in Chenab Valley.
