Basohli Bridge to be inaugurated on Dec 24: Lal Singh

JAMMU, Dec 21: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh today said that the 592m Cable Stayed Bridge over river Ravi in Basohli will be dedicated to the people on December 24.
The Minister, who visited the site to assess the preparation being made for the inaugural ceremony of the bridge, informed that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will inaugurate the bridge.
Ch Lal Singh also held a detailed meeting with Commander 13 BF, BRO Vimal Goswami, Project Manager, S.P Singhla Group, Devender Rana regarding the arrangements being put in place.
Choudhary Lal Singh informed that with the inauguration of Cable Stayed Bridge over River Ravi in Basohli, the connectivity to the State of Jammu and Kashmir is going to get a major boost as it will connect the State with neighbouring States of Himachal Pardesh and Punjab.
The Minister informed that the work on the maiden Cable Stayed Bridge in the state was started in September 2010 on the persistent demand of people of Basohli and Border Roads Organization (BRO) has completed the bridge at a cost of Rs. 145 crore.
Meanwhile, several deputations of Basohli town from Kakdera, Jankhar and Thatri met the Minister and put forth their genuine grievances for redress.
Responding to the demands, Lal Singh directed the concerned department to upgrade the road from Kakdera to Jankhar via Thatri.
Regarding construction of lift station at Basohli, the Minister directed the executing agency to complete the ongoing construction work within the stipulated time and over head tank at ward 2 of the town.
Later, Ch Lal Singh also visited Ram Lila Ground and Old Pond  where he assured that restoration of pond and its beautification will be done at the earliest.
