Narco smuggler held with brown sugar

JAMMU, Dec 22: Keeping hawks eye over narcotic smugglers indulged in ruining the future of the young generation especially school going children by making them drug addicts, police arrested a person wandering under suspicious circumstances near a prominent school in Sainik Colony area and recovered brown sugar worth several thousands from his possession.
As per police sources, information was received that some narcotic smugglers are targeting the school going children to make them drug addicts, a joint naka was raised by police team from Channi Himmat police station and Sainik Colony police post near a prominent school.
During checking of the passerby, police team asked a pedestrian to stop, as he was wandering near the school premises under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police cops, the person tried to escape. Sensing something fishy, the cops chased the man and nabbed him near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 5 grams of brown sugar from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Rajinder Kumar, son of Krishan Lal, a resident of Bari  Brahmana. He used to sell brown sugar among the young generation especially school going children at Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 per gram.
A case under FIR Number 116/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at police station Channi Himmat and investigation started to arrest other associates of the accused if any.
Police team led by SHO Channi Himmat police station Inspector Sajjad Haider and Incharge Sainik Colony police post SI Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
