JAMMU, Dec 23: Police arrested inter-state narcotic smuggler along with ganja from Rajiv Nagar Chowk in Narwal.
As per police sources, police team from Bahu Fort police station and Narwal police post laid a naka near Rajiv Nagar Chowk and asked a person carrying bag to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the man escaped from the spot, but the cops chased and nabbed him.
During checking, police recovered 3 kilograms of ganja from the bag being carried by the man and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Ashok Parshad, son of Triveni Parshad, a resident of Patna, presently residing in Bari Brahamna, district Samba.
During questioning, the accused revealed that he had brought the ganja from his native area and was about to deliver it to his associates in Rajiv Nagar.
A case under FIR Number 302/15 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the narcotic smuggler at Bahu Fort police station and manhunt has been launched to nab his associates.
Police team led by SHO Bahu Fort police station Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria and Incharge Narwal police post SI Mahmood Khan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
