JAMMU, Dec 24: Governor, N. N. Vohra has extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.
In a message, the Governor said that the teachings of Jesus Christ, the apostle of peace, compassion and brotherhood, have guided human beings towards righteousness. He observed that the message of Lord Christ is perhaps more relevant today than ever before, when the world is ridden with hate, greed, intolerance and violence.
The Governor expressed sincere hope that this auspicious occasion would help in further strengthening the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, secularism and the traditions of pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries.
The Governor wished the people a very Happy Christmas and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has also extended greetings to the people on Christmas and hoped that the holy occasion would be a harbinger of peace, harmony, progress and prosperity for the State.
In his message, Mufti Sayeed said the essence of celebrating Holy Christmas lies in strengthening the values of compassion and love towards mankind. “Christmas marks the birth of Jesus Christ and rekindles the spirit of peace and harmony. Let us resolve to promote unity and lead a true and virtuous life,” he exhorted.
