Menace of Drug abuse

Sir,
The drug menace  is at  alarming stage in the Jammu and Kashmir State.  A scathing attack by the Health Minister of JK State holding Police responsible for facilitating Drug Abuse and its import in Jammu and Kashmir, while speaking in the State Legislative Assembly on 6th October 2015, is a matter of great concern. Another much concern is the report published in Business Standard, ANI/New Delhi, 26 November, 2015, that trading posts opened between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir are conduits, from where drug proliferation is being carried. In view of these developments, the concerned agencies of Drug Control Department, security forces operating in the state and police in particular has to act in a more refined way to get absolved of these stigmas.
The youth of today and future of tomorrow has indulged itself into this menace.  Broadly speaking, the youth of today are very inquisitive and curious. They like to test the efficacy of whatever they see and hear of and fell easy prey to very undeserving material published and advertisements. The stories of Multi- billion dollar property of Drug mafias, owing to Drug Trade, boost the attitude of raw brains to ‘Make Money Quick’. This leads to complex social, medical and psychological problems. The family belief and exposure also encourage drug use.
This menace can be come over to some extent, if families and social organizations counsel the children on dangers associated with drugs. The children in school and colleges should be encouraged to participate in the drug education. Easy availability of drugs such as alcohol and cigarettes is the basic cause of drug abuse, it should be checked strictly.
Yours  etc…..
