Three arrested with heroin

JAMMU, Dec 25: After busting drug peddler and bus employees’ drug trade nexus, police today arrested three narcotic smugglers along with heroin worth Rs 3.76 lakh from Shastri Nagar Chowk, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station.
This was stated by SP South Shaazad Salaria while interacting with media persons at Gandhi Nagar police station this evening.
Giving details, SP South informed that a naka was laid by the cops of Gandhi Nagar police station at Shastri Nagar Chowk near Cremation ground and signaled a Maruti 800 car bearing registration number JKO2AL-9702 coming from Satwari to Gandhi Nagar to stop for checking.
The driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle at some distance from the naka point.
“During checking, three separate packets containing 47 grams heroin along with silver foils were recovered from the possession of three persons traveling in the car. They were arrested by the police and the car was seized”, Mr Salaria stated.
The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar alias Chuchu, son of Mohan Lal of Bakshi Colony, RS Pura, Anil Kumar alias Johny, son of Harbans Lal of Kullian, RS Pura and Amandeep Singh alias Gourav, son of Darshan Singh of Narhi, RS Pura.
SP South informed that during questioning, the accused deposed that they used to sell the heroin weighing 500 milligrams to 1000 milligrams to youths particularly students including girls in tin/silver foils for Rs 4,000 to Rs 8,000. They further disclosed that the consignment was being smuggled from bordering States of Punjab and Damtaal area of Himachal Pradesh.
A case under FIR Number 309/15 under Section 8/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the narcotic smugglers at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation of case is entrusted to SI Tariq Ahmed, which is going on.
The arrest was made by police team headed by SHO Gandhi Nagar police station Inspector Bishnesh Kumar and assisted by PSI Javed lqbal Chowdhary under the close supervision of Sachin Gupta, SDPO City South, Shazaad Salaria, SP City South and Uttam Chand, SSP Jammu.
It is to mention that, since the beginning of November, Gandhi Nagar police seized 50,000 milligrams heroin, 8.4 kilograms ganja, 23 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki), 465 banned syrup bottles and 2496 intoxicant capsules. Around 17 drug peddlers were arrested during this period.
