NEW DELHI: Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sudden stopover in Lahore to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif was criticised by the Congress, BJP veteran L K Advani welcomed the move saying efforts initiated by former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee should be taken forward by Mr Modi and others.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Advani said,”Taking forward the efforts that were initiated by Vajpayeeji, Mr Modi and others should contribute to taking India-Pakistan relations firmly forward.” In a surprise development, Mr Modi yesterday travelled to Lahore to meet Mr Sharif. The Congress, however, described Mr Modi’s sudden stopover in Lahore as a pre-planned visit. It also termed it another example of the NDA Government’s flip flop on its Pakistan policy. (UNI)
