JAMMU, Dec 29: The people from various villages of Jhiri including Dab Ditta, Dab Karam Din, Panjore, Pathiyan, Purnawala, Kalyanpur, Haripur, etc gathered in front of SDM Office, Marh and held protest against the administration and the local authorities.
The main agenda of the protest was that some of the local authorities along with some of the local villagers locked the cremation ground situated at center place Jhiri. The protest was lead by the Sarpanch Panjore Panchyat Sham Lal Sharma.
While addressing the gathering, Sarpanch of Panchayat Panjore, Sham Lal said that for the past so many decades, the locals of the nearby villagers use to cremate their relatives at cremation ground situated at central place Jhiri. He added that some of the local authorities and the villagers locked the main gate of the cremation ground.
“If people are cremating their relatives in this cremation ground for the past over six decades, then why now the administration locked the cremation ground”, he questioned.
President, Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) Surinder Singh Gilli, also condemned the decision of the administration of locking the gate of the cremation ground. Gilli added that the Government and the authorities should think for the betterment of the villagers and local people and should construct a full-fledged cremation ground at Jhiri.
SDM acting swiftly, asked his juniors to open the gate of the cremation ground and assured the local villagers that the administration is working for the welfare of the local peoples.
Among others present were Sapna Devi, Naib Sarpanch, Ramlal, Panch, Gurman Singh, Chairman, Jagatter Singh, Jorawar Singh, Girdhari Lal, etc.
