Jain to join back today

JAMMU, Dec 29: Senior IAS officer of 1985 batch of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, Pramod Jain, has returned from Central deputation and will be joining the State tomorrow for further posting.
He is in the grade of Chief Secretary.
He returned to the State after four years Central deputation with last posting as senior Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Culture.
Jain has had a chequered academic career and service record.  He had attended universities in India, UK and USA. He held Masters in Development Studies as well as a Certificate of advance Study in Public Administration from the Maxwell School, Syracuse University, USA.
As (IAS) Officer, he has been trained in India, the Netherlands, United Kingdom (Cambridge), Thailand, Singapore and USA (Harvard).
He has held many key assignments both in the field and at the policy-planning levels in Jammu and Kashmir.  These include, inter alia, Commissioner and Secretary to Government, Departments of PWD, Rural Development and Higher Education.
He was also Deputy Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner and Financial Commissioner Revenue.  As Chief Electoral Officer of the State he led Jammu and Kashmir to the universally acclaimed Assembly Election, 2002 as well as Panchayat polls 2000-2001.
As senior Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, he spear-headed museum reforms and strengthened India’s cultural relations abroad.  He was instrumental in organizing over 10 festivals of India abroad. He travelled to over 20 countries and represented India in international bodies.  He has also attended international conferences and was recently invited to give a lecture in Oxford University.
His work in Government of India had been well appreciated.
