DyCM directs JMC to speed up developmental works

JAMMU, Jan 2: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh has directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to speed up the pace of the works being undertaken by the civic body in Jammu district and asked for preparing a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the tune of Rs. 15 lakh for each of the 71 wards in the city for taking up additional developmental programmes.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a review meeting convened to discuss the status of various developmental works undertaken by the JMC.
Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, MLAs, Satpaul Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Commissioner, JMC, Mandeep Kour, Joint Commissioner, R. S Jamwal and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
Dr. Singh directed the officers of the JMC to undertake the developmental works in various wards of the city in consultation with the elected representatives of the area so that they are need based and area specific. He said that by involving the local representatives in the formulation of the developmental plans and works the development of these areas would be in accordance with the needs of the people and would also be fast paced.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed for taking the necessary approval of the local MLA before undertaking any work in different wards of the city.
Dr. Singh while laying emphases on undertaking the beautification of the city said that the proper landscaping and other activities should also be undertaken. He said that the sustained campaigns should also be undertaken in the sanitation sector so that overall cleanliness and hygiene of the city can be maintained.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed the officers to come up with a comprehensive mechanism for redressing the parking problem as being faced by the people of the city. He said that the JMC should also maintain a liaison with the traffic authorities for ensuring better mobility of the vehicles plying in the city.
Speaker and Legislators also spoke on the occasion and projected the demands related to their respective constituencies.
