KISHTWAR, Jan 3: MLC, Firdous Tak, today convened a public grievances redressal camp to take stock of people’s problems and demands besides assessing the status of development works.
The camp was attended by people from Marwah, Warwan and Danchan areas of the district who projected various issues related to welfare and development of their respective areas.
District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, G.N Balwan and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The people of Marwah demanded air service for this cut off region during winters, opening of free tuition centers for students of the area under CM’s Super 50 Initiatives, solar lights for the region, release of pending MGNREGA payments, land compensation for various roads, opening of new ration depots, staff shortage in hospitals, relief for last year’s flood victims besides revival of Community Information Centre .
Meanwhile, the people of Warwan area projected various demands which inter alia include strengthening of BSNL service in the area, construction of Mini Hydel Power projects, fixation of rates for commercial vehicles plying on rural roads besides adequate staff in health institutions.
The people of Danchan area demanded conduct of awareness camps by Social Welfare Department for educating the masses about various schemes like Ladli Beti and Aasra.
Responding to demands of the people, the MLC directed ACD to clear all pending MGNREGA payments at the earliest. He asked the CMO to work out a proposal for further augmentation of healthcare services with focus on life saving drugs in rural areas. He also asked ARTO to notify the fares of the vehicles plying on different link roads in the district besides directing CEO to take up the matter regarding free coaching under super 50 initiatives with the concerned authorities.
The MLC assured the people that all their issues will be raised at the appropriate right forum for an early redressal.
