JAMMU, Jan 3: Evacuee Property Tenants Welfare Society (EPTWS) today urged the PDP-BJP Coalition Government in the State to abolish Custodian Department.
The issue was raised up in a meeting of the association held here today under the leadership of association president, Jyoti Vaid.
While addressing the meeting, Jyoti said that before State Assembly elections in 2014, all parties had made promises of abolishing the Custodian Department with Evacuee Property (EP) Tenants but after coming into power no-one even bothered to talk about the issue.
Mohd Shariff, general secretary, EPTWS, said that the community of EP Tenants firmly believes that the present Government will mitigate their sufferings by bringing a bill in the coming budget session to deliberate upon the matter of ownership rights to the EP Tenants, as the gullible tenants are being unnecessarily harassed by the department by charging huge premium for construction/renovation and repair of their houses.
