Natrang stages ‘Aap Hamare Hai Kaun’ at SMVDU

JAMMU, Jan 4: A special show of Balwant Thakur’s highly acclaimed play “Aap Hamare Hai Kaun” staged here today by Natrang at Matrika Auditorium, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra.
Prof Sudhir K Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU was the chief guest on the occasion.
Giving details, Writer and Director of the play Balwant Thakur informed the audience that this play and its participating artists have done proud to Jammu by making it to the National Theatre Festival being held at New Delhi, where the children will perform this play on January 11, 2016.
‘Aap Hamare Hain Kaun’ shakes parents, educationists/ guardians of society out of reverie of materialism, consumerism and unbridled desires. This play compels elders to look around and clear the mess they have created due to their own amorous ambitions and rat race. Parents see in their children an extension of their unfulfilled dreams and force them to become stereotypes and kill the bountiful charm in them. In a pursuit to make them top professionals, doctors, engineers and civil servants, they are subjected to every kind of cruelty. The children become mechanical and hardly get time to discover their real self. Prevalent educational system adds further insult to the injury and their creativity gets scuttled and children grow up devoid of values. Play deals with contemporary problems that younger generation is up against from their own loved ones and surroundings. Tall claims and big concerns of parents, relations, and educationists are being questioned by the younger generation Aap Hamare hain Kaun.
The children who participated in the play included Juhi Singh, Gopi Sharma, Sanchita Dubey, Sanyam Gupta, Shreya Gupta, Agam Kaur, Mihir Gujral, Manya Gujral, Sanya Gupta, Asma Gul, Ayn Bhola, Chander Pratap Singh Bhau, Chirag Anand, Sanvi Anand, Riya Jandial, Saba Jamwal, Shivangini Sharma, Divyan Sharma, Sahil Singh Anand,  Sanket Bhagat and Rudra Kohli.
The music of the play was composed by Anil Tickoo and Rakesh Kona was on rhythm. The lights were designed by Gaurav Jamwal and executed by Ankush Lakhnotra. The hall management was looked after by Mohammad Yaseen, Shivam Singh and Kritika Singh.
