JAMMU, Sept 6: The condition of one more fasting youth at Jagti township demanding enhancement of cash relief also deteriorated tonight and he was shifted to GMC Hospital for treatment.
According to reports Ajay Bhat who is leading the dharna and was on fast unto death was shifted to GMC tonight after his condition became critical. The doctors at Jagti earlier in the day had referred Bhat to GMC in view of his deteriorating condition. But Ajay had refused to take medical facilities and continued to remain on fast.
Sunil Pandita who too was on fast for three consecutive days and was hospitalized after his condition deteriorated on September 4 night sat on indefinite fast this morning again to show solidarity with Ajay Bhat and R K Pandita the other fasting youth demanding enhancement of cash relief.
Mr Pandita who was in GMC Hospital for 24 hours was discharged from the hospital last night. Instead breaking his fast he resumed the hunger strike again this morning.
However another youth Kaka Ji Kachroo who was referred by doctors to GMC last night is still under going treatment there.
A large number of camp inmates of Jagti joined the dharna in support of the demand and urged the Government to take immediate decision failing which they will accelerate then movement and also will not hesitate in taking an extreme step.
The protestors raising slogans in support of their demands held the callousness of the State and Central Governments responsible for the plight of the displaced Pandits in general and relief holders in particular. They said it is a pity that the Government in last 23 years of KPs mass exodus has failed to settle the community. “We have lost faith in both Central and State Government as they failed to deal with our problem humanitarianly forcing the relief holders to take extreme step’’said Ajay Bhat.
Ajay made an appeal to all KP organizations political and non political to join their struggle to take it to its logical conclusion. The camp organizations including JCC, JTC, Displaced Joint Council, KPC Unit Jagti have extended full support to the present struggle.
The dharna also continued at TRT Purkhoo and other TRTs today in support of the relief holders of Jagti. The TRT inmates of Purkhoo have condemned the police action on Jagti inmates.
Meanwhile the token hunger strike of relief holders in front of Relief Organization continued today. Ravinder Raina who is leading the hunger strike said that the agitation will continue till demand is met.
