JAMMU, Jan 6: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) held a protest here today.
Large number of Kashmiri migrants including PM package employees assembled in Exhibition Ground near Press Club here and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Addressing the gathering, RK Bhat, president, YAIKS said that the PM’s package for the Kashmiri migrants is mere an eye wash. He added that PM package was announced in the year 2008 as a step towards rehabilitation of unemployed KP youth in Kashmir Valley. However, pathetic handling by the successive Governments has resulted in complete failure of the scheme.
“Under this package, the Government had claimed to rehabilitate migrant families back to Valley, but it has failed to rehabilitate 1800 KP youths who had volunteered to serve in Kashmir Valley”, he alleged.
He said that out of 1800, the Government provided accommodation to 800 employees on sharing basis, adding that as the PM package can’t address their long term needs, therefore it is obligation of Government of India to provide 2 to 4 per cent reservation for KP migrants in Central Government jobs and educational institutions for their long term needs.
“Call all the employees back to Jammu, who are working under PM package in different parts of the Valley and settle them here till the final decision for the rehabilitation of whole community is taken”, he added.
Among others present were Arti Koul, Omesh Raina, Preeti Koul, Princy Dhar, Ajay Bhat, Sarita, etc.
