SAMBA, Jan 6: The residents of Nud held protest over shifting of Block Medical Officer (BMO) office from Nud to Ghagwal.
Large number of people from Nud area assembled at the Mansar Road and raised slogans in favour of their demands. The protest was led by Karan Singh, President, Kissan Union, district Samba.
The protesters also blocked the vehicular movement on the Mansar road, leading to long traffic snarls.
While speaking, the speakers said that shifting of BMO office from Nud to Ghagwal is grave injustice with the people.
“We will not allow the shifting of BMO office to Ghagwal and launch agitation if our demand is not addressed”, they warned.
After getting information, police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protesters, but remained in vain.
Later, Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Samba Devin-der Kumar Manyal reached the spot and listened to the demand of the protesters. He assured them that their issue will be solved on priority basis after consulting with the concerned quarters.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and the vehicular movement on the Mansar road was restored.
