NC, Cong, BJP, others condole Mufti Sayeed’s demise

JAMMU/ SRINAGAR, Jan 7: Several political parties and senior leaders from across the State including separatists, expressed deep shock over the death of J&K Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and conveyed their sympathies to the bereaved family.
National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and working president  Omar Abdullah have expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of  Chief Minister  Sayeed and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Expressing heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family,  Dr  Abdullah and  Omar   conveyed their solidarity to them in this hour of mourning and loss.
Senior party leaders, legislators, former ministers including NC general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, Dr Mustafa Kamaal, Abdul Rahim Rather, Mubarak Gul, Mian Altaf,  Mohammad Akbar Lone,  Nasir Aslam Wani,  Mohammad Ramzan, Sakina Ittoo, Shameema Firdous, Nazir Gurezi, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Junaid Azim Mattu,  Tanvir Sadiq, Salman Ali Sagar and Ajaz Jan besides other leaders and office bearers have expressed grief and sorrow over Mufti’s demise..
Provincial president of NC from Jammu Devender Singh Rana,  former ministers Ajay Kumar Sadhotra,  Surjeet Singh Slathia, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari,  Abdul Gani Malik, Babu Ram Pal, MLAs- Javed Rana and Dr Kamaal Arora, senior leaders    Rattan Lal Gupta, Th Kashmira Singh, Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Th Rachpal Singh, Sheikh Basheer,  Brij Mohan Sharma, Gurdeep Singh Sasan,  Jugal Mahajan,  Ajaz Jan,  S S Bunty,   Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Vijay Lochan,  Abdul Gani Teli and others have expressed grief over the demise of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
National Conference leader and MLA Mendhar Javed Rana has also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of PDP patron and Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
Senior NC leader and MLC from Kishtwar, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo during condolence meeting at district headquarters condoled the sad demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed.  The party leaders activists and leaders paid rich tributes to the departed soul and prayed for the peace. Tanveer Kichloo, Ex-MLA Qazi Jalaldin, Mohd Aslam Dev, Nusrat Farooq and others were also present
Former Speaker and senior NC leader Mubarak Gul and Ashok Koul, chairman  Migrant Cell of the party also condoled the death of  Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has deeply mourned the demise of  Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed  and paid rich tributes to him.
PCC president Ghulam Ahmed Mir expressed deep shock over the sad demise of Mufti Sayeed and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. In his condolence message,  Mir described Mufti Sahib as a great statesman and visionary leader who served the people of the State in different capacities during his long political career.
Former PCC president Prof Saif-ud-din Soz has also expressed his deepest anguish at the passing away of  Mufti Mohd Sayeed. Prof Soz described his demise as great loss to the people of J&K state to whom he (Mufti) wanted  to serve in different ways.  Soz said Mufti was among the seasoned politicians of India who had stood up for politics of secularism and pluralism.
PCC functionaries in Jammu during a meeting at party headquarters here deeply mourned the demise of Chief Minister  Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and paid rich tributes to him.  A two- minute silence was observed on the occasion to pray for peace to the departed soul.
The meeting was presided over by senior vice president of PCC  Sham Lal Sharma and attended by senior leaders of Pradesh Congress, District Congress Committee and frontal wings of the party.

Meanwhile, several other senior Congress leaders, Subash Gupta Ex-MLC from Kathua, MLA Ghulam Mohd Saroori from Inderwal ( Kishtwar), senior PCC leader and MLC Ghulam  Nabi Monga, MLC Jehangir Hussain Mir ( Dy Chairman Legislative Council),  Jugal Kishore Sharma-MLC,  Naresh Kumar Gupta-MLC,  Muzaffar Parrey-MLC, Sham Lal Bhagat-MLC, Rani Billoria-MLC;  YV Sharma, Ashwani Khajuria, Brij Mohan Sharma, Shakeel Shah and Ashok Sharma Ex-MLA have also condoled the death of Mufti Sayeed.
Former Ministers R S Chib and Abdul Ghani Vakil have also expressed deep shock over the death of Mufti Sayeed and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
BJP State president and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma, State general secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul and other senior leaders condoled the sad demise of State Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and paid tributes to the departed soul.
Sat Sharma, in his condolence message, said that the demise of Mufti Mohd Sayeed is very shocking at this juncture.  He was a mature and dedicated leader whose presence was needed for the State and its people as he had been working towards taking the State to new heights in development and providing a corruption free administration. His death has resulted in a unbridgeable void in the State.
Ashok Kaul said that Mufti Sayeed had been leading the PDP-BJP Coalition Gove-rnment with maturity and dedication and his death has caused an irreparable loss. He prayed for the peace of the departed soul and for giving strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
MP  Jugal Kishore Sharma termed Mufti Sayeed as  tallest leaders in Jammu and Kashmir who commanded respect even among opposition parties. He said that Sayeed gave a new direction to the coalition in the State.
MP, Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas described  Mufti as a visionary leader and a multi-facet personality, who had long political career. He said that Sayeed was running the State’s coalition with a motive of good governance and development.

BJP MLAs Rajeev Sharma from Akhnoor, Gagan Bhagat from RS Pura, R S Pathania from Ramnagar,  Dr Krishan Lal from Khour, Dr Devinder Manyal from Samba and Ravinder Raina from Nowshera have also condoled the sad demise of Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Member Rajya Sabha (Uttarakhand) and president Parliamentary Group on India-China Friendship, Tarun Vijay also expressed deep shock over the sad demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed. Mr Vijay shared his close association with Mufti Sahib and described him as most secular and visionary leader.
Separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have also condoled the sad demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
In a statement  today, the hardline Hurriyat Chairman Geelani said the death is an ultimate realty and no living being either king or the people can escape from its grip. He prayed for the peace to the departed soul.
Mirwaiz Farooq while expressing grief on the demise of Mufti Mohd Sayeed conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family. However, none of the Separatist leaders attended the funeral of  Mufti Sayeed.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of party patron, guide and Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who breathed his last at AIIMS this morning.
A condolence meeting of PDP was held this morning at party office to condole the sad and untimely demise of  Late Sayeed.
Party leaders while paying tributes to Mufti Sayeed said that the State has lost a visionary leader who remained committed and devoted towards welfare of the state throughout his long political career.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Ved Mahajan, Ex- MLA and senior leader Shanti Devi, Dhaman Bhasin,    T S Bajwa, Fallail Singh,  Bhushan Dogra,   MLC Surinder Choudhary, Ch Gharu Ram, S Amrik Singh Reen, Satpal Singh Charak,  Ashok Jogi, Suresh Sharma, Rajinder Manhas, Vinod Sharma, F C Bhagat, Dr Harmesh Salathia, Puneet Jamwal, Nitish Mahajan, Sohit Sharma,  Capt Anil Gour, S S Sarangal, Surjeet Kour, R K Koul, Sunil Bhat, SK Raina, SK Dutt and others.
Meanwhile, senior PDP leader Ch  Zulfkar has said that Mufti’s departure is a great loss to the nation and Jammu and Kashmir has lost a statesman and visionary leader.
Zulfkar expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and PDP workers whom Mufti was considering family members.  He termed Mufti as a visionary and a sincere person, who was always concerned for the well being and welfare of all particularly the weaker sections of the society. Mr Zulfkar was in Delhi when Mufti breathed last following which he rushed to Srinagar to participate in the last rites at Mufti’s native place.
Meanwhile, several more PDP leaders including Dillawar Mir, Yavar Mir, Hamid Choudhary, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan- Ex-MLA from Mendhar, Wajahat Hussain Naik,   Molvi Haki-ud-Din, Mohd Alyas Shah, Mohd Zaman, Ch Lal Hussain and  Mohd Azeem Malik from Poonch, PDTU (Labour Cell of PDP)  leaders Suresh Sharma, Kapil Bakshi, B N Singh, Jasmeet Singh Madaan, Pardeep Singh and Manohar Lal also   condoled the sad demise of  Chief Minister Minister Mufti Sayeed.
In Leh, the  PDP unit and BJP jointly held a peace march  from old Bus Stand to main bazaar, Leh. At the main bazaar the participants observed two minute silence paying respect to the late  Chief Minister.
Terming the late leader Mufti Sayeed as great statesman having great vision for J&K and Ladakh in particular, various speakers which includes Upper Leh Councilor Venerable Lobzang Nyantak, BJP vice president Nazir Ahmed,  Y Angchok Lardak, Anjuman Imamiya president Asharf Ali Barcha, District Youth president Tsering Namgyal and PDP Leh unit president  Tashi Gyalson spoke on the occasion expressing their deep condolences over the demise of Chief Minister
A condolence meeting was conducted at Ladakh Buddhist Association office under chairmanship of Tsewang Thinles, president, LBA to pay homage to  Late  Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Haji Hanifa Jan and other members also expressed deep shock over the sad demise of Mufti Sayeed and they expressed deep sympathy with the bereaved family.  A condolence meeting was held in the town in this connection which was attended by several members of Council and legislators. They included Aga Sayeed Baqir MLA Zanskar, MLA Kargil Asgar Karbalai, ex-minister Qamar Ali Akhnoon, Mohd Raza Ex-MLA and others.
NPP leaders  Prof  Bhim Singh, Harshdev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Yash Pal Kundal, P K Ganju, Bansi Lal, Anita Thakur and several others while expressing grief and sorrow over the demise of  Mufti Sayeed conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, CPI leaders Mohd Yousuf Tarigami-MLA, Com Abdul Rehman Tukroo, PDF leader Mohd Yasin- MLA, NCP leader Th Randhir Singh, RJD leader    Vijay Mahajan and leaders from Duggar Pardesh Party- Mohan Singh, Inder Pal Singh, Varsha Kapoor, Kulveer Charak, Ram Singh, OP Sharma and Mangal Dass have also condoled the demise of Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
