JAMMU, Jan 8: Police foiled a bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 11 bovine animals here today.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban police station laid a naka at Shan Palace on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AA-8579 to stop for checking.
Sensing himself in trouble, the driver accelerated the vehicle, abandoned it and fled from the spot.
Police team reached the spot and during checking, rescued 11 bovine animals. The vehicle was seized and hunt has been launched to nab the driver, who has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad, son of Gamma of Govindpur Maitra.
The accused driver was trying to smuggle the bovines to Valley, but police foiled his bid.
A case under FIR Number 9/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police station Ramban against the accused and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban police station Inspector Vinod Kundal foiled the bovines smuggling bid under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
